a beginners blog, by a beginner… for all!
Hey!
I want to welcome you to my new art blog, Canvas Whisper.
I have been into art pretty much my whole life (and chemistry sets, microscopes, and encyclopedias). I loved to draw as a kid, I preferred still life drawings. I had an oil paint set one time, but the palette was made of wood, and usually dried my oils and generally made a mess. My 15 minutes of fame was shot. Off to the next endeavour.
And thusly, after many a long year, we find ourselves here. I like to paint! My wife and I have done many Couples paintings, and even setup a Christmas Painting Party for our family. These had all been acrylic paintings. I figure the only way to learn, is to do. So… After encouragement from my wife to just go paint something before I analyse the (canvas, lights, angles, glare, space, organization, temperature, and to some degree relative humidity) to death and just paint. I love that Lady! On February 22, 2020, I did just that! After binge watching a Bob Ross Seascape DVD (The Joy of Painting: Season 18, Episode 9), I boogied next door to do just that. What follows will be the painting, what I learned, and tips, that just might help you too! I don’t have a style… haven’t developed a method, but I’m looking for one. I’ve got some ideas, so let’s explore!
